Mamata sulks, logs on to Facebook

After being isolated in national politics, Trinamool chief Mamata Banerjee joined Facebook to buy time before she decides her next step.

On the social networking site, she justified her decision to back APJ Abdul Kalam for the President's post.

At the Writers' Buildings on Saturday, Mamata said, "Whatever I have to say, I will say on Facebook." Her sudden fondness for the site has taken many by surprise. Within 24-hours of the page being hosted, it had over 6,000 'likes' and 1,600 comments.

She is, perhaps, looking for a face-saver after her extreme political gamble left her no exit route. She could be waiting for the BJP to announce its stand.
