PM heads for G-20, Rio+20 summits today

Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh leaves on a week-long visit to Mexico and Brazil on Saturday. During his visit, Dr Singh will participate in the crucial G-20 Summit in the Pacific resort of Los Cabos and will also attend the Rio + 20 conference on Sustainable development.
Briefing media persons in New Delhi on Friday, External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Syed Akbarudin said the Prime Minister would have bilateral meetings with the leaders of Mexico, Germany, France and Russia. Mr Akbarudin said the host country had listed five areas on which the G-20 countries would deliberate.
Meanwhile, Environment Minister Jayanti Natrajan has said that India will pitch for the principle of common but differentiated responsibility at the negotiating table at the Rio + 20 Summit in Brazil.
Talking to media persons in New Delhi on Friday, she said India would try to make sure that the Rio principles are reaffirmed and all sustainable developments were viewed with the approach of equity and common but differentiated responsibility so that developing countries can have their share of development.
