Makan wants BCCI under RTI

Union Sports Minister Ajay Makan has said that he was disappointed with the opposition to the proposed national sports bill by Board of Cricket Control in India(BCCI) and said federations need to be brought under the ambit of the Right to Information Act for greater accountability.

After BCCI President Sharad Pawar raised objection on some clauses of the proposed national sports bill, Maken said that the bill was intended to make sports bodies more transparent and efficient and was in no way an attempt to take control of national sports federations.

Talking of the cabinet meeting on Tuesday, Makan said, "I wouldn't want to say what happened in the cabinet meeting yesterday, I just like to reiterate the sport ministry's stand and my stand. We are in no way trying to control the sports federations or sports bodies."
