Lawyers boycott Karnataka HC proceedings

Lawyers boycotted the High Court in the wake of violence that erupted on Friday afternoon. Saturday has been declared as a non-sitting day for all courts functioning in the city. Court proceedings went ahead in the morning and a division bench headed by Chief Justice Vikramajit Sen and Justice BV Nagarathna rose for lunch recess at 1pm.
After the court resumed, at 2.30 pm, 30 lawyers walked into the court halls and began persuading other lawyers to boycott the court. They asked lawyers and judges to join their protest in the wake of violence. However, when the protesting lawyers entered court hall seven and began shouting slogans, a division bench headed by Justices Dilip B Bhosale and BS Indrakala told them to behave.
A lawyer informed the court that because of the violence, they wanted their colleagues to join the protest. The high court was deserted by 4.30 pm.
